Philadelphia Union, America de Cali among options for Ex-MVP David Ferreira

A source close to the situation in Philadelphia says that the Union have started talks with former FC Dallas midfielder David Ferreira.

The Union passed on the former league MVP in the second round of the Re-Entry draft but was done in mind to help keep down David's future salary. The source says the Union talked with league officials about what teams were interested in taking Ferreira in the draft and that none came up.

Although talks just started late this afternoon, Philadelphia do not want Ferreira as a Designated Player. They are looking for him to fill in this season and hopefully help recently acquired Corben Bone in his decision making on the field.

The source also said Colombian side America de Cali want Ferreira to come home. David played with the club from 2000 to 2005 and became somewhat of an icon. If David goes back to Colombia, the source says that he won't be raking in the money, as America are currently playing in the second division.
